Reconstitution Primer
What is Bacteriostatic Water (BW)?
Sterile water containing 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which prevents microbial growth. Use BW for all multi-dose vials. Use plain sterile water only for single-use IV preparations (e.g. NAD+ IV drip).
How to Reconstitute
- 01Wipe the vial top with an alcohol swab.
- 02Draw the required volume of BW into a 1 mL or 3 mL syringe.
- 03Angle the needle against the glass wall of the vial — never inject water directly onto the powder.
- 04Gently swirl; do not shake.
- 05Allow to dissolve completely (usually 30–60 seconds). The solution should be clear and colourless (exception: GHK-Cu / GLOW may be blue-green — this is normal).
Calculating Your Dose
After reconstitution, use:
Volume (mL) = Desired dose (mg or mcg) ÷ Concentration (mg/mL)
Example: 250 mcg dose from a 5 mg/mL solution = 0.25 ÷ 5 = 0.05 mL (5 units on a U100 insulin syringe).
Syringe Guide
- •Use U100 insulin syringes (29–31G, 12–13 mm) for all SC injections
- •1 mL = 100 units. So 0.1 mL = 10 units, 0.05 mL = 5 units
- •For larger volumes (TB-500, NAD+ IM), use a 3 mL syringe with 25G needle
Injection Sites
- SCRotate between abdomen (2 cm from navel), lateral thigh, and upper arm. Pinch skin, insert at 45°, inject slowly.
- IMLateral thigh or deltoid, 90° angle.

Always refrigerate at 2–8°C. Most stable 30 days if kept cold and sterile.
